QPIRG Concordia is supporting both CUTV and CJLO in their campaigns for fee levy increases. Voting on their referendums is next week, between November 29-30 & December 1. More details about voting is available below. All Concordia undergrads (who are registered for at least one class for the fall semester) are eligible to vote.
CUTV’s fee levy increase will help it broadcast more widely, including on cable. CJLO’s fee levy increase will help it have a presence on the downtown campus, as well as to get an FM frequency. Both organizations provide tangible volunteer opportunities, and help students to “become the media.”

Information is power, and CUTV helps to empower students and community by providing a precious space to share our ideas, events, culture and activism.
In the past year, CUTV has done an amazing job activating volunteers, not just to cover events, but also helping students and community members feel confident to “be the media” as well. They have regular workshops and skillshares, enabling many members on the campus to become acquainted with the process of creating television ready media.
CUTV’s coverage is eclectic, and does a great job in representing the diverse ways our community and campus creates and acts for social change. One unfortunate limitation on CUTV’s work has been the ability to broadcast more widely, via cable and live-streaming. This increased capacity requires more resources.
QPIRG Concordia, a social and environmental justice center, strongly supports our campus ally CUTV. We encourage all Concordia undergraduate students to vote YES on November 29, 30 and December 1 to CUTV’s proposed fee levy increase, which will help them to broadcast more widely on campus and in the community.
