The QPIRG Concordia Alternative Library is hosting a summer Open House, and you are invited!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 4-7pm
at QPIRG Concordia
1500 de Maisonneuve West, #204
Our space is wheelchair accessible, via elevator.
Our Alternative Library and Poster Archive (https://qpirgconcordia.org/librarycirculation/) is a free library and radical poster archive, open to all. It is committed to fulfilling the QPIRG Concordia mandate, which aims to promote social and environmental justice, and which is rooted in an anti-oppression analysis and practice. The library carries hundreds of books, magazines, zines and audio-visual items (mostly in English, but with goals to expand our French content), specializing in social and environmental justice covering subjects such as anti-racism and colonialism, queer issues, economics and globalization, sexuality and gender, (un)popular history, media, art and culture, prison issues, labour, environmental issues and more. The Poster Archive project has been collecting and cataloging (both physically and digitally) hundreds of posters produced by social and environmental justice groups in Montreal.
Through this Open House event, we hope to welcome and orient more students, community organization workers and volunteers, researchers, activists, neighbourhood friends, and other interested folks to the Alternative Library and the Poster Archive. Come browse, get your free membership, and borrow resources that will help feed your work, research and organizing!
There will be snacks & drinks, an Alternative Library orientation session, a collection of radical bibliographies, and more! Please spread the word, and save the date! We would also love it if you would RSVP, just so we know how many people to expect
Looking forward to seeing you here!
