Fundraising for Youth Hip-Hop Literacy

Project description:

W.O.R.D. is looking for a student to help us with our ongoing fundraising and development plan. To make W.O.R.D. a sustainable program, we require funding that is sufficient, reliable and renewable. The student's role and research plan would include the following:

  • To orient yourself with the unique funding needs and requirements of W.O.R.D.;
  • To research grant and contribution opportunities from charitable organizations, foundations, government programs, etc.;
  • To build relationships with potential donors;
  • To draft funding applications, proposals and budgets;
  • To ultimately secure funding on behalf of W.O.R.D.;

 

In the final month of the project, you will be required to present your findings in a final report that will answer the following questions:

Evaluation of Website Development Workshops

Organization:

Project description:

W.O.R.D. is looking for a student to help us build an interactive website. We feel that it is integral for W.O.R.D. to have a strong online presence not only for its ability to spread the word about our mandate, but also to complement the multimedia components of our programming. During the three months of the project, the student's role will be to evaluate and assist in facilitating the workshops with program participants, in partnership with the Atwater Library Digital Literacy Project (DLP), on website development. To conclude, an evaluation report of the workshops will be required elaborating on the following points:

  • The effectiveness of the workshops, successes and failures;
  • Collection of feedback from the participants;
  • Suggestions on how the workshops could be improved;
  • An evaluation of the applied usefulness of website development knowledge among the participants.

Youth Hip-Hop Curriculum Development

Project description: W.O.R.D. is looking for a student to help us bring our programming to the next level. We are always in the process of revamping our curriculum to keep it fresh and relevant to changing climates and specific participant needs. Your role and research plan would include the following, divided into three main parts:

1st Part – September to December

  • To orient yourself with W.O.R.D.’s programming mandate and content;
  • To research the literacy standards of the Quebec education system and incorporate lesson plans into the curriculum that reflect these findings.

Youth Testimonials on Racial Profiling (In Progress)

Project X

Project X is a group dedicated to educating annd supporting youth around the issue of racial profiling and institutional racism. The MANDATE of Project X is to support youth by helping them find creative ways to survive the effects of institutional racism and racial profiling. This website’s purpose is to educate, inform and provide a forum for communication. 

The student completing this project will carry out the following tasks:

-create a loose questionaire for youth asking them about experiences and thoughts around racial profiling.

-gather audio testimonials from youth in NDG and other communities in Montreal

-edit and upload the audio clips onto the project x website
