Head and Hands is a youth organization in NDG that works with people ages 12-25.
* Head & Hands envisions a society where all youth are participants and are inspired by the endless possibilities available to them.
* Our mission is to work with youth to promote their physical and mental well being.
* Our approach is preventative, non-judgmental, and holistic with a fundamental commitment to providing an environment that welcomes youth without discrimination. We facilitate social change and the empowerment of youth based on their current needs within our community and society at large.
The student carrying out this project will perform the following tasks:
-look to see if there has been previous research about the need for creating more shelters in NDG
-find out how many youth shelters there are in NDG
- disseminate questionairre asking organizations in NDG and greater Montreal about youth access to shelters in NDG/Montreal
-research funding for starting a youth shelter in NDG
-the research will be used to apply for funding to start a new youth shelter with Head and Hands in NDG.
Type of final product desired: Needs assessment report
Type of research:
-survey of NGO/youth org's in Montreal/NDG
- data collection from various from national and provincial databases and research teams available through the internet
-collecting data from H&H archves
Education/skills required from student:
-a student who can work independently, who has good anti-oppression analysis and some previous research experience
