January 7, 2010, 1pm: ACTIVISM FOR STUDENTS 101

Open to students from any campus or college in Montreal

This year, QPIRG Concordia presents monthly sessions about activism and community involvement for students. These sessions are meant for anyone who is curious or interested in getting more involved in their community, and engaging and social and environmental justice issues.

“Activism for Students 101” will include an overview of collectives, groups and organizations that people can join or volunteer, as well as answer any questions participants might have about social justice organizing in the Montreal context. We will also discuss QPIRG's anti-oppression, grassroots organizing framework.

Study in Action is an undergraduate student conference o­n social and environmental justice designed to link students and community activism. The conference is a space for students to present research and develop greater knowledge of social and environmental issues and build ties with community organizations. This year's conference will take place from March 12-14, 2010 o­n the Concordia campus.
