>> Vélo! Vélo!: Bike Collective Conference (September 25-27)
Tuesday, July 07, 2009 - 08:16 PM Vélo! Vélo! is a conference of bicycle collectives, such as community bicycle workshops and bike share programs, in the Greater Montreal Area. Modeled on the Bike! Bike! conference in the US, Vélo! Vélo! provides an opportunity for volunteers and staff at bike collectives to build solidarity, share knowledge and collaborate on their respective projects. Entrance will be by donation. The conference will take place between September 25-27, 2009. The conference will feature a variety of workshops pertinent to running a successful bicycle collective, such as discussions on how to reduce a bike shop’s carbon footprint, attract diversity, and make decisions by consensus in an anti-oppression framework. The workshops will be held in English and French, with whispered translation available in either language. Sunday will be a day of activities, including a group bicycle ride, a picnic and bicycle movies in the park.
